Yes, Many times shipping doesn't have cargo to fill a whole container, so these small parcels are known as Less than Container Load. And the act of collecting the LCL cargo from the various shippers and packing it into a container is known as Consolidation.
In the bulk cargo, the goods are transported loose and stored directly into the container without any packing materials.
But in breakbulk, the products are individually packed and loaded directly to ship. The cargo is basically transported straight in bags, boxes, crates, drums, barrels, and other handling equipment.

Generally, shipments that have and surpass the following dimensions are considered oversized/ heavy cargo:
  • Width of over 8.5 feet
  • Height of over 13.6 feet
  • Length of 48 - 53 feet
  • Weight of 50,000 pounds and above
